So there is this place in Frankenmuth called the Bavarian Inn. Obviously by the name it's a hotel with a huge restaurant inside. This place is my dad's favorite.
They have this family style meal that, for as long as I can remember, was a tradition for my family when we came to Frankenmuth. Check out the description below (sorry for the glare).
With the cost of this at only $19.99 a person, this rivals all good buffets and is so much more tasty. Now this is why I decided to do a special post regarding this all on it's own. As I said before my father adores this place. What I didn't say was that he holds a record of eatting the most chicken in one sitting. Okay, maybe it's not an official record, but it sure is a lot.
For the first course, you get those three salads you see above and a cup of some of the most tasty chicken noodle soup I've ever eatten. The bean salad they have is so yummy as well (as you can see I had already taken a bite, or two, before I snapped this photo).
Next, comes the meal. The funny part is that all of this that you see on the table was just for my brother, father and I. Yes, nine plates of food! Oh, and it was only our first round. I wish I could have got a better photo (I was too hungry to try again) just to show you HOW much food this is. They bring out 12 pieces of chicken at a time and will refresh all the other dishes as many times as your heart desire. Curious as to how many plates of chicken us three folks went through? Two! Yes, 24 pieces of chicken all gone. The funny thing is that I only had three (wow, pig!) and my brother ate maybe four... so that leaves my father with 17 pieces of chicken! Dang! We normally don't eat like this (I swear) but for some reason he just adore the breading on this chicken so much that he can eat these bad boys by the dozen (and then some...).
Finally after you stuff yourself to capacity with the chicken and sides, they present you with these darling cups of very tasty ice cream with these cute people sticks based on your sex. My dad seriously collects these. They haven't changed ever and we now have about 80 of them (I'm not exaggerating). Oh and now they present you with these tasty cookies too (as seen below), that not one of us touched because we were beyond full.
However, out of tradition, we walked through the bakery on our way out (crazy idea if you ask me!) and my dad just had to buy some of their awesome cookies. They are so huge and so cheap ($1.00!) that we all ended up getting one (okay, two). I did find these unique mint mudslide creations that I tried (the next day, of course) and throughly enjoyed.

3 ♥ Thoughts:
If you ever come visit, I am taking you to Helen... a little Bavarian town hidden in the north Georgia mountains. You'd love it.
That. Looks. Fantastic. Now I'm hungry again...
Kim - Oh I bet it is a beautiful place, especially in the Georgia mountains. I will have to come check it out.
And Jeanette - sorry to make you hungry again, but this food was to die for, I had to share.
