Oreo Ball Goodness

Just call me Betty. Betty Crocker that is. HaHa, only kidding. But I did cook and I made something very tasty that I must share with all your fabulous folks. This is the best thing to bring to all those holiday parties that are quickly approaching. Trust me, it will be a hit. And girl at my work actually introduced these to me and since then I've been obsessed. This is obvious by the belly you will see on me. Oh sweets, you rule my world.
Here's the recipe...

Oreo Balls
What you'll need:
  • An entire pack of Oreo's (note this doesn't have to be Oreo brand to taste delish, just needs to be this type of cookie. So save the money and buy the store brand. I only bought it because it was on sale; Score!)
  • 8oz. bar of cream cheese (I bought fat free just because I figured it's a little better for you, right? Again, you can use whatever type of cream cheese you want.)
  • White chocolate or any kind of candy coating that you can melt

Next, open up the Oreo's and resist the urge to eat each and every one of them. This is the hardest part of the whole process, I promise!

Break up all the Oreo's into the smallest pieces that you can do by hand. This is a great stress reliever and so much fun. After letting the cream cheese sit out for about 30 minutes to soften it up, toss that into the bowl with the broken up pieces of Oreo. Next, get out the mixer and mix until this concoction is as close to a powdery texture as possible, blending the cream cheese as you go. Mine was still a little bumby with pieces or Oreo that my mixer couldn't get it - it's no big deal, they still turned out great.

Now if you've ever played in dirt, and liked it, you will love this part. Take that mix of Oreo's and cream cheese and roll them into one inch balls. They don't have to be perfect, any size will do, but usually the one inch size is perfect bite size portions.

Stick them in the fridge and let them get firm for about an hour and a half to two hours. At this time get out your best cheap wine and sit back, drink and relax. See told you this recipe was easy!

After an hour or so, make sure your balls are firmer. You will notice the texture difference from when you first rolled them. Once they are firmer, begin to melt your chocolate or candy coating. Make sure to keep at a low heat and mix continuously otherwise it will burn and that is never fun (plus it ruins the recipe).

Next just take all those balls and dip them in the melt chocolate or candy coating and BAM! You're done. Let them cool until the coating is hard then devour. I've seen them decorated with sprinkles or icing or whatever your heart desires so don't let anything but your creativity stop you with the finished product.

Then last and most important step to not forget - Share! My creation made 28 total Oreo balls. Enough to share with family and friends and still have 10 left over.

Note: Make sure to store these in the fridge as they do contain cream cheese and warm cream cheese is never good! Plus they are so much more tasty when chilled.

Hope you all enjoy. Let me know if you decide to make them and how they turn out. They are fantastic!
