Never to busy, tired or broke for you!

(( via ))

So I bet you are thinking about what a lame and easy pledge this is today. But fear not my loves, it is actually harder than it seems.

I have a few, what I like to call, "convenient friendships/relationships" in my life. They only want to be friends when it is convenient for them and have no regards that I, like them, have a life and schedule too. And well, this set-up sucks. We all sometimes go through those phases where life just gets in the way of certain things. Working long days where after you can't seem to find the energy to do anything but be a vegetable in front of the TV. Or those times where you can't afford to do anything but go to work (and/or school), fill up your gas tank and grab some grub here and there. Or even those time where the long days of running around have got you so tired you physically cannot keep your eyes open one more moment. We have all been there and some of us still might be going through this.

Still I don't think it's an excuse for ingoring relationships.

I made this pledge actually years ago when I realized my friendships and relationship were slowing drifting away because of these three things. And I promise that this pledge has helped. Here are a just a few things I have been doing with my friends lately:

Last week Chelsea Handler was in town for a show. As the tickets were well above my price range, instead Ria, Mandy and I went to her book signing. For the cost of the book (which I would have bought anyway) I got to spend a few hours chatting with my friends and laughing at the fabulous Ms. Handler.

This has been my default to do since Spring has arrived - walking dates! I like to be active and try to do something active everyday (even if it is just a walk) so when a friend doesn't have money or is tired I force (yes, literally) them to go on a walking date with me. After, not only did we get a work-out and feel engergized but we got to spend some quality time catching up (and get vitamin D!).

Homemade dinners and nights in around the TV have become an all time favorite nighttime activity of mine. I throughly enjoy breaking open a bottle of wine, sitting in my PJ's and just chatting it up with a friend. Who needs to spend money to have a good time?! Plus this is a good thing to do when you are really tired and just want to relax.

Running errands with a friend is a good to do as well. Maybe we only have time to go grocery shopping so why not invite a friend to go as well?! This is always fun (especially for me, I adore food!) and if it's the only time we have, then let's make the most of it! Also works great with regular shopping, home imporvements, etc. If the only time I have to fit some fun friend time in my life right now is while continuing on with my life - I will make that work with my schedule.

...now if only I can get some of my friends on board to this pledge as well I'd be golden!

What are some cheap, fun and relaxing things you do with your friends?

Ahhhhh I'm so jealous, I love Chelsea, seriously, she's amazing. Although I still think "Are you there vodka? It's me Chelsea" is my favorite book.

I'm smitten with CH. She's such a guilty pleasure.

And I love this pledge...sometimes all someone needs is to know you carved out a little space for them.

That's a great pledge! There really aren't enough hours in a day to spend with our true friends! Can't wait to visit with you tonight!!!

i think this is an awesome pledge, something i'm trying to do too. life should include friends and family but work and budgets can definitely get in the way.

I am in love with Chelsea! She is hilarious. I saw her live in Chicago (she was definitely a hot mess) and I couldn't put down her book! So cool that you went to the book signing!

I also love to have dinners with my friends to catch up! It's the best:)

Did you freeze up when you met Chelsea? I never know what to say to famous people. I always embarrass myself.
