Numb.

While we are mourning the loss of our friend, others are rejoicing to meet her behind the veil.
-John Taylor

It is with a saddened heart that I share the news that my friend, Mrs. Christy Lynn Wright (DePriest), passed away yesterday. She was always, and will likely always be, the most positive, hopeful and faithful person I've ever had in my life. A shining star in a room full of downers, a positive brought to every negative, and pusher when everyone was a shover.

We met back in 2000 as freshmen in high school. We were friends all throughout and even talked on occasion after she went away to college in Virginia. She was diagnosed with epithelioid hemangioendothelioma this past December and fought it with such vigor. At the beginning of this year she stated on her Facebook, "Challenge of 2010: kick cancer's bootay!!! Thanks for the encouragement everyone! I'm not giving up!" Although the news of her situation was up and down for the past five months (thanks to Facebook it was easy to keep up with her situation and her family was so kind in updating people often), we all still had faith that she would pull through. It was Christy afterall - if anyone could do it, she could!

However, yesterday morning she had complications from her liver bleeding and filling her lungs. When she was told her situation, she smiled and said, "I get to go to Heaven now." Approximately two hours later, she went to Heaven.

Yesterday was a very hard day for me. Even though it had been years since we had talked, I still considered her a friend and always will. I have a lot of great memories with Christy all through high school. She is the President of our class, the Prom Queen our senior year, biggest cheerleader for our achievements as a class as well as personal, and above all of that the sweetest, kindest, most faithful, beautiful and loving girl I ever have the chance to know.

Even though most of you don't know her, please keep her husband and family in your prayers during this difficult time. Heaven just got a new angel.

When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight.  -Kahlil Gibran

Rest In Peace Christy

Again I'm so very sorry for the loss of your friend. I can't imagine watching someone fight so hard... and then lose them.

She'll live on forever if you let her positive attitude and hard work rub off on you! That will be the best way to keep her memory alive! <3

Oh Jen, I can barely see the keyboard right now. This is painfully beautiful, what a great tribute to Christy.

Albert Einstein said only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile. It sounds like Christy's life, while sadly short, was very much worthwhile.

I'm thinking of everyone during this difficult time. Hope you're okay.

*hugs*

it's so hard to lose friends, even if you hadn't talked for awhile it doesn't take away all the great memories of a wonderful person.
