2010: The year of friendship

8 ♥ Thoughts

Every year is good but I believe 2010 was a very special one as a lot of it was spent with my friends. Here are just some highlights from my year of friendship.

In February, I visited the Detroit ice house with Mallory then spent Valentines weekend visiting a fellow blogger and new friend, Kim, in Atlanta, Georgia... where for the first time in years it snowed!

As you all know, May is my favorite month of the year. And this one was rather special for many reasons. First it started with seeing our President, Mr. Barack Obama at UofM with Lauryn. After this one of the most horrible things happened, a friend of mine from high school lost her battle with cancer. This just might have been one of the worst parts of my year. After that, I celebrated the birth of me on May 11, went to the midnight showing of Sex & the City II and ended the month with fighting back against cancer at the Relay for Life with my team, The Pavement Pounders.

When the weather heated up in June, so did the fun! June started with one of the best concerts of the year, Mr. Brad Paisley! So much fun with so many friends! We ended June on the best friend date I may have ever had over fondue with all the wonderful Michigan bloggers.

July started with a trip to the Toledo Zoo with Mallory which brought back so many childhood memories, a wedding which happened to have all my besties in attendance, then ended up with a blast from the past at the Backstreet Boys concert with my favorite women.

Next to May, August might have been on of my favorites of the year. That might be because I spent the majority of it outdoors. Started it off with a bike tour of Detroit with Ria and Mallory, followed by a walking tour of Detroit's Eastern Market and a lovely brunch with Ria and Mae. August was also filled with some fabulous firework displays and a weekend trip to Frankenmuth with two of my favorite men.

I obviously forgot to blog all through November, but I didn't forget to do so in December. This past month has been super amazing. We hosted a wine tasting party where all of my favorites showed up to party and drink. Then my best friends and I took our mothers to see Mary Poppins at the Detroit Opera House.

I seriously have the most amazing friends in my life. Even through all the tough times, my friends made this year the best one yet.

Reading is Sexy.

Isn't this the truth?

I got one of the best Christmas gifts ever this year... a Barnes & Noble nook. And truly I couldn't be happier.

It took me awhile to decide what I wanted my first nook purchase to be. I ended up purchasing The Hunger Games for the cheap price of $5!

Last night, while munching on some popcorn, I read over 100 pages of the The Hunger Games. I'm obsessed. I even brought it into work today to see if I can get some much desired reading time in. It is so much easier and quicker reading on the nook than a regular book. No having to put the effort in to hold the book open, no paper cuts, etc. - it's so awesome!

The nook just might be the best Christmas gift I've gotten in a long while.

Gift Giving Excitement

5 ♥ Thoughts
Don't you just love giving gifts? Especially when you find the perfect gift for that special someone?
Well this year I was especially excited about one gift I got to give to my man. He is a huge Beatles fan and since I refuse to feed into his crazy addiction, I figured I would only buy him something Beatles if it's really cool. And well this, is really cool.

The Beatles Abbey Road Legos.
I mean, what cooler gift is there than this?!

Mary Poppins

7 ♥ Thoughts

This past Sunday, my four best friends and I treated our mothers to a special early Christmas gift - dinner and a play to see the fabulous Mary Poppins. This was truly the most over the top musical, theatrical, amazing, and fun play I've ever seen (rivals Rent and Wicked for sure). I just adore live theater and this one was truly one of the best.
